Find out a little bit more about all of the people that make Champions the great place that it is: the Coaches and Staff!   They come to us extremely knowledgeable in their various fields– from gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading, yoga, exercise science, and air sports, competitive and recreational, to computer software and office management, to childcare and education. All of our staff and coaches attend clinics throughout the year and are involved in instructor training to assure that they are up on all the latest teaching ideas, certifications, and spotting techniques. More than coaches, they take great pride in being role models for your Champions, molding respectful, sweet, encouraging and hard-working individuals. Best of all, they love to teach and they love your champion! We take the bond that kids form with their coach extremely seriously, which is why we have a long hiring process, including many training days where your child might have an extra coach. We sponsor our staff to complete CPR and First Aid certifications so that they are up to date. Champions TX has taken our staff to the Gymnastics Association of Texas Conference since 2000 in addition to other training to ensure we are up to date on the latest information and techniques in the industry.

If we haven’t met you yet, please be sure that you introduce yourself. We love to be able to match up all of our wonderful students with their parents. Thank you again for sharing your amazing children with us

Welcome to ChampionsTx Waya!   We are so glad you are here!

We are thrilled about the fabulous coaches and management staff that will be

working with your child to provide the best training, safest drills, and fun!

We are a team… and always here for you!  Welcome!

Janet Scott | Owner & Founder  ✉

Janet is the owner and founder of Champions. She’s a mom, a wife, and an experienced gymnast. She was competitive for 8 years and was even named All American in Gymnastics for two years! She’s coached, was the secretary of the Gymnastics Association of Texas, and she even got her degree in Physical Education with concentrations in gymnastics and dance at UT. A native Austinite, she was involved in the Jr. League and the Helping Hand Home. She loves photography–you will probably see her snapping pictures with her big camera around Champions!

Janet established “Champions Academy” in December of 1994 based on the idea that all children, no matter what skill level, should have an opportunity to excel in gymnastics and cheer without having to give up their childhood to the gym.  In 1995 Champions created the first team: Performance Team, titled because of the philosophy that she wanted the teams to do more character building and community-focused performances rather than competitions. All three of her kids were raised at Champions as well as the thousands she claims as hers!

Breion Johnson  | Coach

Coach Breion is what some might refer to as a “backyard tumbler”.  From about the age of five or six, Breion began gaining knowledge and skill about gymnastics and tumbling skills.  He started with cartwheels and round-offs then moved on to more complex tricks such as back handsprings and running tucks.

He has worked in various gyms for four years in martial arts, dancers, cheerleaders, swimmers, and traditional gymnastics.   He loves working with the athletes at Champions and is excited about rolling out new skill-specific week-long camps of tumbling, gymnastics, and parkour this summer!

Payton Terzian  | Coach

Payton started gymnastics at age 5 and fell in love with it.  She grew up in New Hampshire and began cheerleading in middle school, giving me the opportunity to be a part of my high school’s varsity cheer team.  Coach Payton worked with kids since she was a young teen at cheer camps and clinics. When she moved to Texas for school, she could not see giving up such a huge part of her life, which is why she LOVES coaching here at Champions!

Sara Lampert | Coach

Coach Sara is a former competitive cheerleader with over six years of experience coaching gymnastics and cheerleading. When not in the gym, Coach Sara is a full-time student at the University of Texas School of Law here in Austin. Coach Sara’s favorite thing about being back in the gym is the bond she has made with the gymnasts and families that choose to call Champions TX home! If you hear a loud, animated voice cheering your child on during class it is probably Coach Sara; her volume matches her enthusiasm.

Avery Kale  | Coach

Avery grew up in Houston, Texas and is new to Champions.  Avery grew up in gymnastics which then transferred to her 12 years competitive run in Ice Skating.  Bringing her grace and dance to the Champions gym, were thrilled to have her add to the team!
